New Acquisitions

We are delighted to announce the acquisition of two new authors and titles to be published in the next couple of years. In the last few weeks, publisher Douglas Suttle has finalised the signings of Maica Rafecas' award-winning title about land, family and capitalism, September and the Night and Susanna Rafart's meditation on nature and the climate crisis, Chrysalis: Pastoral in B Minor. Both titles have been published in Catalan by independent publisher La Breu as part of their cicada collection.

September and the Night is Rafecas' first title and tells the story of a family as they struggle to protect their vineyards against the expansion of a local industrial estate in the Penedès region of Catalonia. Written in glorious, sweeping prose, September and the Night is a tale of the collision between past and present, globalisation and family, and personal values in the face of a pervasive, anonymous capitalist system.

Chrysalis: Pastoral in B Minor shows poet Susanna Rafart at the height of her powers as her pastoral novel displays power and beauty in a tale about a beekeeper and his family living high up in the Pyrenees as they come to terms with a plague that threatens their very way of life.

Both titles will be published in our familiar minimalist cover design over the next couple of years and we are over the moon to welcome both authors to our rapidly growing collection.
