The Angel of Santa Sofia

It is with great pleasure that we announce our acquisition of Josep Maria Argemí's short novel, The Angel of Santa Sofia. Published last year as part of the DeBiaix collection on Lleonard Muntaner Editor's fantastic list and drawing on the labyrinthine worlds of Borges and Cortázar, Argemí creates a whole world of angels and demons in this short but powerful book. A riotous adventure through the world of a 'European mythology', The Angel of Santa Sofia tells the story of Josep Palau i Fabre, a mysterious traveller attending the Congress of Demonology in the Italian town of Turin. Taking this enigmatic, hypnotic premise as a starting point, Argemí creates a beautiful journey into light and darkness, desire and secret. The Angel of Santa Sofia is an exquisite odyssey of memorable characters and scenes and will be translated by Tiago Miller. It will be published next year in the UK and the USA.

'An extraordinary narrator.' - David Castillo, El Punt Avui

'An amalgamation of fables, all sculpted by water and time.' - Ponç Puigdevall, El País
